StarlinkMichigan Installation Authorization & Terms of Service
NON-AFFILIATION AND TRADEMARK NOTICE (IMPORTANT)
StarlinkMichigan is an independent satellite internet installation service provided by Harbert Home Systems LLC. StarlinkMichigan and Harbert Home Systems LLC are not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) or Starlink.
“Starlink” is a registered trademark of SpaceX. Any use of the term “Starlink” in this Agreement (and in Company’s communications) is descriptive only, solely to identify the Starlink-branded equipment and related components that Customer owns and is requesting Company to install. Company does not sell Starlink service, does not provide satellite connectivity, and does not act on behalf of SpaceX.
This Installation Authorization & Terms of Service (“Agreement”) is entered into between StarlinkMichigan DBA, a division of Harbert Home Systems LLC (“Company”), and the individual or entity requesting services (“Customer”). By authorizing Company to proceed with installation services, Customer agrees to be bound by the following terms and conditions.
1. Independent Contractor & Non-Affiliation Disclaimer
StarlinkMichigan is a professional installation service provider and an independent contractor. StarlinkMichigan DBA and Harbert Home Systems LLC are in no way affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or otherwise connected to STARLINK, SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corp), or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates. All "Starlink" hardware, service plans, and satellite internet connectivity are provided solely by SpaceX.
2. Scope of Services
Company agrees to provide professional installation of Customer-owned Starlink satellite hardware, which may include:
Site survey and satellite imaging analysis for optimal placement.
Mounting of the Starlink dish on residential or commercial structures.
Routing of cabling through exterior and interior walls.
Setup and configuration of the Starlink WiFi router and basic network connectivity.
3. Property Access and Site Conditions
Customer represents that they are the owner of the property where the installation is to occur, or that they have obtained legal permission from the property owner for the installation. Customer authorizes Company technicians and subcontractors (if any) to enter and access the property as reasonably necessary to perform the work, including access to roofs, attics, crawlspaces, basements, outbuildings, and utility areas. Customer understands the installation may require technicians to climb on roofs, use ladders, and work at heights.
Authorization for Work (Roofs / Drilling / Trenching): Customer specifically authorizes Company to (as needed for the installation) climb and walk on roofs, mount hardware, drill holes through drywall/siding/soffit/roofing/masonry as needed for cable routing, and perform necessary digging/trenching for underground cable runs.
Underground Hazards / Private Lines: If the installation requires trenching or digging, Customer is responsible for identifying and marking all private underground lines and obstructions, including but not limited to: irrigation/sprinkler systems, invisible pet fences, septic components, landscape lighting/low-voltage wiring, private power feeds to outbuildings, and any other privately installed lines. Company is not liable for damage to unmarked or inaccurately marked private utility or low-voltage lines.
4. Structural Modifications and Liability
Customer understands and authorizes Company to perform necessary structural modifications to the property, including but not limited to drilling holes in siding, roofing, or masonry and the installation of mounting brackets, fasteners, sealants, and cable routing components.
Pre-Existing Conditions / Normal Wear and Tear: Customer acknowledges some roofs, siding, fascia, trim, brick, masonry, drywall, paint, and similar materials may be brittle, weathered, or previously damaged. Company is not responsible for pre-existing conditions or failures, or for minor cosmetic wear and tear that may occur during a standard installation (e.g., small scuffs, minor sealant touch-ups, small pilot holes, or incidental material chipping) provided Company uses reasonable care.
Roofing/Leaks: While Company follows industry-standard sealing and weatherproofing practices, Company is not liable for any interior or exterior water damage, roof leaks, or structural issues caused by pre-existing roof conditions (including but not limited to aged shingles, prior leaks, rot, improper prior repairs, or failing flashing) or other conditions outside Company’s control.
Acts of God: Company is not responsible for damage to hardware or property caused by extreme weather conditions, high winds, lightning strikes, or other "Acts of God."
5. Third-Party Hardware and Service Performance
Company is responsible for the installation work only. Company does not manufacture Starlink hardware and does not provide satellite internet service.
Service Outages / Performance: Company is not responsible for Starlink service interruptions, speed fluctuations, satellite downtime, coverage limitations, latency, or the termination/suspension of service by SpaceX.
Hardware Performance / Warranty: Starlink hardware performance, defects, failures, and warranty coverage (if any) are provided solely by the manufacturer (SpaceX) and subject to SpaceX’s terms. Company does not provide a warranty for the Starlink hardware itself.
Firmware/Software: Company is not responsible for system failures caused by Starlink software/firmware updates or configuration changes made by the manufacturer or by the Customer.
6. Mounting Hardware, Specialized Materials, and Retail Starlink Kit Purchases (If Applicable)
Mounting Hardware / Materials: Customer acknowledges that many installs require mounting hardware and specialized materials (for example: roof/wall mounts, brackets, fasteners, sealants, grommets, conduit, raceway, grounding components, exterior-rated cable, and other install consumables). When Company supplies these items, they will be billed to Customer (typically as part of the quote/invoice), unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
Retail Starlink Kit Purchase as a Convenience: If Customer requests that Company purchase a Starlink Kit on Customer’s behalf from a third-party retailer (for example, Home Depot or similar), Customer agrees this is done solely as a convenience. Customer acknowledges Company is not the manufacturer of the Starlink Kit and is not an authorized reseller of Starlink hardware.
Warranty / Returns for Retail Purchases: If a Starlink Kit purchased from a third-party retailer is defective or fails, Customer understands that any warranty, exchange, return, or replacement must be handled through (a) SpaceX/manufacturer warranty processes and/or (b) the original retail point of sale, subject to their terms. Company does not personally warrant the Starlink hardware.
Optional Swap-Out Service: Upon Customer request, Company may assist with troubleshooting and/or swapping out Starlink hardware for an additional service fee. Any such assistance does not create a hardware warranty or guarantee performance.
7. Payment Terms
Fees: Installation fees are provided via quote and are subject to change based on actual site conditions (e.g., unexpected structural obstacles).
Due Date: Payment is due in full upon completion of the installation.
Payment Methods: Company accepts checks, credit cards, and electronic payments.
Late Fees: Past due accounts may be subject to a late fee of 1.5% per month or the maximum rate permitted by law.
8. Cost Approval & Digital Signature
Base Fees and Hardware Costs: Customer agrees to the base installation fee and any mounting hardware/material costs as discussed (by phone, text, email, or website quote) prior to the appointment.
Additional Labor / Specialized Mounts Discovered On-Site: If, during the installation, Company identifies that additional labor, specialized mounts, additional materials, or other work is needed beyond what was originally discussed (for example: unexpected cable routing obstacles, extended cable runs, additional wall/roof penetrations, lifts/scaffolding needs, or non-standard mounting solutions), Customer agrees Company will present the added cost and obtain Customer approval before completing the additional work. Customer approval may be given verbally (including by phone) or in writing via text message.
Website Checkbox as Binding Signature: If Customer submits Company’s website form and checks the acknowledgment/authorization box, Customer agrees that action constitutes a binding electronic signature and acceptance of this Agreement, with the same legal effect as a handwritten signature.
9. Labor Warranty
Company provides a one (1) year warranty on labor and workmanship from the date of installation. This warranty covers the physical mounting and cable routing performed by Company. This warranty is voided if the installation is tampered with, moved, or modified by the Customer or any third party.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Company’s total liability for any claim arising out of this Agreement shall not exceed the total amount paid by Customer for the installation services. Company shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of data or business interruption.
11. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan. Any disputes arising from this Agreement shall be resolved in the courts of Ingham County, Michigan.
Authorization / Customer Confirmation & Signature:
By scheduling an installation and allowing Company technicians to begin work, Customer acknowledges they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service and authorize Company to perform the work described above.
